Norsk Probe (capture)

Experimental: passively captures a session off a host interface and replays it as if the sender had connected here — same streams and connection health, with a passive-probe overlay. Select the protocol (SRT or UDP-TS). Requires network=host and the flow mirrored to a host NIC.

Component Configuration

Option Description Required Environment override

id

A unique identifier for the component instance

✓

displayName

The name shown in the Studio UI of this component

✓

kind

Which capture protocol to passively probe off the interface: an unencrypted SRT session, or a UDP transport stream (bare or RTP-wrapped). (default: "srt")

✗

interface

The host interface to capture from (e.g. eth0). Requires network=host and the flow mirrored to a host NIC. For a no-privilege test, use file:<path> to replay a .pcap capture instead.

✗

<COMPONENT_ID>_INTERFACE

bpfFilter

Optional tcpdump BPF filter (e.g. 'udp port 5000') to narrow the capture. Leave empty to capture everything on the interface. A malformed filter makes the capture fail — this is reported as a runtime alert.

✗

captureBufferKb

Optional tcpdump capture buffer size in KiB (the -B size). Larger buffers reduce kernel packet drops on a busy interface.

✗

rtpMode

UDP-TS only: how the captured UDP payloads are encapsulated. 'raw' = bare MPEG-TS over UDP (the default); 'rtp' = TS inside RTP; 'autodetect' sniffs. Ignored for the SRT arm.

✗

programFilter

UDP-TS only: decode a single program (by program number) from an MPTS multiplex. Leave empty to decode the first / only program. Ignored for the SRT arm.

✗

healthPolicy

Connection health: override the document-wide Input health policy, thresholds or sampling for this input. A captured session has no publisher to refuse, so Enforce behaves as Alert here.

✗

decodeOutputs

Automatic decode configuration

✗

streamMappings

Configure which streams to accept from this input

✗

Options with an environment override can be set when Studio starts, without editing the workflow. <COMPONENT_ID> is this component’s id in your workflow, uppercased, with spaces and dashes replaced by underscores and other punctuation removed — a component named SRT Input reads SRT_INPUT_PORT. Renaming a component changes its id, and so changes these variable names.

Health Policy

Option Description Required

mode

Override the document-wide Input health policy for this input (default: "inherit")

✗

thresholds

Alert thresholds the engine judges connections against; blank fields use the recommended values

✗

sampling

How often the engine samples connection health

✗

Decode Outputs

Option Description Required

decode

Decode on input (default: false)

✗

hardwareAcceleration

Optionally override the global hardware settings
